World War II: The city of Rotterdam is a very modern city, this is caused by the bombardment in 1940 in World War II. This bombardment destroyed the innercity of Rotterdam completely. After the war the city has been rebuild and until today it is under construction.

Modern city: Rotterdam has about 650.000 inhabitants and is situated in the province of Zuid Holland. The city itself is worth a visit. It has a big shopping area, with shops for every taste.

Kinderdijk This visit can be combined with Kinderdijk, which is very near to Rotterdam one of the Unesco Heritage sites and world famous for the 19 windmills. The Dutch Water protection system can be seen here in its full glory.
